The concept of the shop is that it sells donuts with ice cream and toppings that form a ‘sandwich’. Not that you could eat this concoction with your hands, you will defiantly need a fork or spoon to tuck into this messy treat. Thankfully on this cold evening we were able to sit in the tiny counter seating area at the front of the shop. I’m guessing they do most of their business when the weather is better, and people take their goodies to go.
I would like to share the website with you, but each time I tried to load it while writing this blog it didn’t want to work – not a good sign, maybe its blocked in India, who knows. However, this made me Google a few foodie review sites and I have to say their reviews are not great. The fun concept does lack a little in its execution. The evening we went it was very quiet so I cannot really comment on speed of service. To be honest, I would bet that most people take a long time to decide what they want to order, as there are just so many options on offer.
I only had a mouthful of Carl and Amy’s picks, as all I could see was the huge pile of calories that was contained in their plastic to go boxes, For me, the ice cream was not a touch on Cold Stone Creamery. I also thought the prices were a little steep, but then again it is NY so not surprising. There is nothing compelling me to return for a second try, especially since NY has an abundance of options on offer, but thought I would share my experience in case you are tempted while in the neighborhood.
