RESTAURANT REVIEW: ENO, CHICAGO

I have visited this restaurant so many times so it’s hard to believe I have neglected to write a restaurant review for Eno in Chicago. I discovered this little gem a few years ago when I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel and didn’t want to venture out into the cold Chicago winters night, and thus the infatuation began. The casual and inviting ambiance combined with the wine and bubbly tasting flights, cheese, and meat platters, and handmade chocolate and truffles make this a perfect option for a fun evening whenever I visit Chicago.

Located on Michigan Avenue, but also with an entrance inside the Intercontinental Hotel, the cozy wine cellar like restaurant offers a comfy setting to enjoy a wide range of wines from around the globe. Eno is a firm favorite of mine.  I always enjoy the bubbly tasting flight, that gives me 3 separate tastes to sample. My husband usually goes for one of the red wine flights.  And my daughter Rebecca (a recent enthusiast) usually joins me with the bubbly flight.

To accompany our drinks we typically order a few food items to share. Eno does seem popular as a place to pop in for a drink.  We find that the food platters make an ideal accompaniment to the wines. Our favorites are the cheese platters, the bruschetta, and the pizza. It’s also hard to resist the handmade chocolates that provide a mouthwatering temptation in the display cabinet as you first enter the restaurant. As with the wine flights, the food platters are delivered with a card detailing more information about the food offered.  So you could say it’s an educational experience to boot.

On my most recent visit the restaurant was quite busy. This is quite unusual, so perhaps the word is out about this somewhat hidden gem. Service was friendly and sufficiently attentive. I would recommend you visit Eno on your next Chicago adventure, but be warned it can be addictive J

I am pretty sure I have heard of this place before. If I ever get out that way I am totally going! I LOVE food and drink flights. Truly they are one of my favorite things because I am so indecisive. I want to try ALL OF IT! Thank you for taking us on this virtual journey with you. It looks FANTASTIC!

The flights are a great idea. We enjoy comparing the different flavors and how the pairings work with the food platters.

      • If I am not mistaken, that is the hotel where cdbaby offered their clients to stay when they had their music conference this past October. I’m glad you posted this because it is good to hear someone else’s opinion of a place you might stay if you ever travel to those Nevis of the woods. And glad to know there is a restaurant right there. Very cool to know the food is great. Thank you for posting this!

What a great looking restaurant! The food looks delicious and the atmosphere is fabulous! I love the chocolate plate!!

      • I think the presentation of the items is really what makes the food look so mouthwatering! I love those long platters with the food delicately placed. I am always a sucker for dessert, so I think I would love to try their house made chocolate and truffles. That’s amazing!

      • Ohhhhh yummmmmm! From the wine to the bruschetta to the pizza the meal looks absolutely amazing. I am totally going to bookmark this post for when I head to Chicago. Bubbly and Chocolate sounds like the most amazing end to a phenomenal meal.

Thanks Jamie, Chicago has so many great restaurants so any visit leaves me spoiled for options for where to go first but Eno is so convenient for when we stay at the Intercontinental

Well, you had me at handmade chocolates and hooked me with meat and cheese platters! The pizza and bruschetta looks great as well. I often order off of the appetizer or sharing menus, so I can taste more samplings. I think it is fun. Especially if it is a new restaurant!

I went to Chicago last year but I do not think I was in this area. The next time I go for work I will make sure I ask my coworkers to head to this great Restaurant. I think everyone would love it. Thanks for the great idea.

Im glad you liked this idea. If you visit Chicago often, then please take a look at a few other great restaurant picks I have on my blog.

      • I have always wanted to visit Chicago, but we just haven’t made it up there yet. The food looks amazing at Eno, so we’ll definitely keep it in mind when we finally make it. I love that they include a fact sheet with their appetizers. That is definitely not something that you see very often!
