When a friend contacted me to tell me that a new magazine was going to be published in 2017 and would I like to be involved, the answer was an easy yes. I had a couple of meetings with Nikki, who is spearheading this project, and decided that this would be a fun new adventure.
The magazine is called Hedwig Village Living. Distribution is confined to my neighborhood in Houston, that’s around 1000 households. A glossy magazine lands in mailboxes towards the start of each month.
Turning neighborhoods into communities – the publisher N2 Publishing
A wide variety of articles are inside the glossy 24-page publication. The magazine is designed to reflect the social activities and interests within Hedwig Village.
Skimming through the first edition there are articles on gardening, pets, recipes, home design, and exercise. But the magazine also provides a useful list of important telephone numbers. Contact information for area utility companies, schools, and emergency responders are documented.
Furthermore, there are a number of local businesses that have taken out advertisements to highlight their local roots. Consequently, the magazine becomes a great resource for local residents.
Our objective is to provide homeowners and communities with a superior publication that is informative and useful, while providing businesses with an exceptional way of promoting their products and services. Duane Hixon, CEO & Co-Founder
Each month the magazine will feature one of the families who call Hedwig home. Say hello to the Oxley family kicks off this feature with a look at my family. Following a meeting with Nikki, I filled out a simple questionnaire, and then Elizabeth McCabe wrote up a piece all about us Oxleys. It was very easy so I would encourage any of my Hedwig Village neighbors to give it a try. Contact Nikki at email@example.com for more information about becoming a featured family.
I enjoyed working with Nikki on this project. I guess Nikki liked it too as next month there will be a feature about the Oxleys four-legged members. Check back on the blog next month for that article. Or better still sign up for my VIP list and never miss a post!
