So I must admit it, I’m a little smitten with iPic Houston. I had stopped going to the movies as the experience had simply ceased to be fun. I was a fan of Studio Movie Grill when it first opened in Houston. But then the uncomfortable ‘office’ chairs developed the loudest squeaks possible. Add to that the pain of parking at Citycentre and the constant coming and going of other patrons inside the theater, and it was just too annoying to bother.
But now the whole movie experience has had a major upgrade with the introduction of iPic Houston. Combining the most comfortable and private seating options, and delicious food selections, this is the place to go to truly enjoy the latest movie offerings.
The intimate cinema studios have two types of seating options; Premium and Premium Plus. The Premium Plus seats are iPic’s pod system of seating. Each pair of seats are contained within their own booth. As if the large leather recliners (just like you would have in an upscale media room at home) aren’t sufficient enticement, you even get your own pillow and blanket for additional comfort. With tables to hold your food, cup holders built into the booth so your drinks don’t get in your way, and cubbies for your purse or shoes you simply need to kick back and enjoy the show.
Award-winning chef Sherry Yard has developed a selection of dishes that are in-cinema friendly – meaning guests can enjoy their food in the dark. We sampled the artisanal cheese and charcuterie board on our last visit. A tasty and picture-perfect board of sliced and cured meats, cubes of cheese, grilled bread, and crisps plus roasted Marcona almonds, fruits, and a delicious stout mustard. The Meatza pizza and Truffle fries are also favorites of ours.
iPic express selection also offers a variety of cocktails, beers, and wines. The prosecco, carafes of wine, and craft beers are our favorites.
For guests who would like a more leisurely dining option then the Tuck Room is for you. Guests can opt to eat at the Tuck Room before or after their movie experience, or indeed just visit to dine.

Soulful social plates are designed to share. Tempting dishes like Brioche-crusted crab cakes, hot pepper calamari fritti, and buttermilk fried chicken are waiting for you.
Master Mixologist and Advanced Sommelier Adam Seger has developed a selection of home-made elixirs, syrups and infusions to elevate the culinary experience. Featured cocktails include the hand shaken tuck margarita, El Corazon, and cocktails to share such as the Illegalito and the lookbetternaked margarita. The drinks are designed to promote cocktail-driven gatherings.
Now luxury does not come cheap. The basic price for the Premium Plus seats starts at $16 plus a $12 VIP fee, per person. For that you get the reclining seat with a bag of popcorn thrown in. Once you add drinks and a few nibbles then a date night for two can easily run to over $100. But as I said, I’m hooked. I think this is a price worth paying for a great night, or afternoon, at the movies.
