I love visiting Chicago as the city is one of my favorites in the US. Take a look at the video I made with my daughter Rebecca that shows some of the reasons why I love Chicago. I always enjoy trying new hotels on my frequent trips. On this visit. I tried out a boutique hotel located just off the Magnificent Mile. Such a convenient location and yet away from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping thoroughfare. The large room was very well equipped and I loved the modern design. The bathroom was particularly luxurious. Sadly the weather didn’t cooperate to allow me to try out the rooftop bar/restaurant. For a city break, this type of boutique hotel is ideal.
On the negative side, a pet peeve of mine is an extra charge for wifi. For a boutique hotel, I think the front desk staff could be a little friendlier. Upon check in and out I did not feel at all welcome but maybe I just got the staff on a bad couple of days. The bar/breakfast area is very tiny so if many of the guests decided to eat at the same time there would be a major issue. However, with so many restaurants on your doorstep (and much cheaper options) I guess this is not usually an issue.

If you follow my blog, then you will know that my talented husband is pursuing his doctorate at Cranfield University in the UK. His course requires several residential weeks spread throughout the year at the University. Each visit gives me the opportunity to discover new places to explore. When I’m looking for restaurants in an area that I’m not familiar with, I turn to Zomato. This online resource gives restaurant reviews, plus provides photos, and menus. Using this app has given me many successes in the past such as The Carrington Arms in nearby Moulsoe. On my recent trip, I discovered a pub/restaurant in the village of Wootton called The Legstraps.
If you follow any of my social media channels then you will know that I just love the Maldives. It is the only vacation place that I have returned to numerous times. Ok, I’ll admit it, I’ve been there 5 times! Yes, I’m addicted. On our last trip, we took our drone to capture some aerial footage of the resort. Sadly this visit didn’t have the best weather. The day we took the drone footage of Constance Moofushi it had just stormed so the colors aren’t quite as magical as normal. However, I think you will get the general idea of just how the Maldives is truly idyllic.
Take a look around my blog and my YouTube channel to find more reports from my various visits to the Maldives including my visit to another resort called JA Manafuru.

Arriving at Heathrow airport on a cold foggy London morning was quite the contrast from the 82-degree heat we had just left in Houston. By lunchtime we needed something warm and nourishing to keep us from succumbing to jet lag. A bowl of ramen seemed like the perfect solution.
Shopping and Cocktails at the Houston Galleria
While celebrating my birthday month (why settle for just one day) my girlfriends took me on a day’s outing to the Houston Galleria. After a little shopping and a makeup tutorial at Nordstrom, we headed to the newly refurbished Saks Fifth Avenue.
I’m a proud pet mama this month as my four-legged children are featured in the February edition of the Hedwig Village Living magazine. Get to know my furry friends a little better by reading below.
