True Food Kitchen, Houston, Tx – Restaurant Review

True Food Kitchen, Houston, Tx – Restaurant Review

Houston’s restaurant scene is truly diverse with every kind of cuisine on offer. But one trend that I really appreciate is the move towards ‘healthy’. True Food Kitchen caught my eye when I visited this part of town recently to try out another restaurant, Rise No 2. The outdoor seating area proved the ideal location for a light weekday lunch with my husband.

iPic Houston, Tx – The Ultimate Theatre Experience

So I must admit it, I’m a little smitten with iPic Houston. I had stopped going to the movies as the experience had simply ceased to be fun. I was a fan of Studio Movie Grill when it first opened in Houston. But then the uncomfortable ‘office’ chairs developed the loudest squeaks possible. Add to that the pain of parking at Citycentre and the constant coming and going of other patrons inside the theater, and it was just too annoying to bother.

Book Review – My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella

Book Review – My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella

I’m on quite a roll with one of my new year’s resolutions to read more. Keeping up with at least two books a month, I thought I’d share another recent read. Over the years, I have enjoyed quite a few of Sophie Kinsella’s books. So, when I saw her latest hardback book at Costco for around $15, I thought I’d make this an additional read to my Book of the Month Club for March.

Magnum Ice Cream Pop Up Shop in New York

We all scream for Ice Cream

As the weather is beginning to warm up in all three of my home locations I start to reminisce about a pop-up shop I discovered last year in New York. I believe that this company had a few pop-ups dotted around the globe so I would recommend you keep your eyes open when traveling. The ice cream bar of course was delicious, but the whole store experience was worth the wait in line. And if you have an Instagram account, then you would love this store even more.

The Capital Grille @ Citycentre, Houston, Tx – Restaurant Review

An impromptu meetup to celebrate a girlfriends wedding anniversary presented another opportunity for me to visit The Capital Grille located at Citycentre. This fine dining restaurant, known for its dry-aged hand-carved steaks is the perfect setting for any kind of celebration.

Singapore Street Food from Kerb in Canary Wharf

                        Tempting Street Food from Kerb

Sitting in my London home as the food trucks set up shop right by my building makes it just too tempting to resist as their delicious aromas fill my apartment. This week I thought I’d sample the Singaporean Street Food Stall and was not disappointed. Of course, I needed something sweet to finish off my lunch and found the perfect option from Fatties Bakery. I hope my vlog doesn’t make you drool too much 🙂

Well the folks over at Rise No 2 are clearly not at all intimidated by the thought of producing consistently perfect soufflés. During my visit, I witnessed a constant stream of picture-perfect soufflés making their way to eager diners.

Westin Hotel, Chicago – Review of Executive Club Room and Lounge

I visit Chicago quite often and like to try out different hotels. On a recent trip I had a two night stop at the Westin located on Michigan Avenue right by the Water Tower. I felt the large hotel had a somewhat corporate feel, meaning they were aiming for the business visitor rather than the casual traveler.  The common areas were always a little busy for my liking. Getting caught up in a couple of large wedding parties when you are trying to navigate entry and exit is not my idea of fun.  Take a look at my video to see the Executive Club Room and the Executive Lounge. On a positive note, the Westin hotel Chicago has the most comfortable beds so you should get an excellent nights sleep.

Grand Mumbai Tours – Lets Explore Mumbai

After living in Mumbai for a few years I discovered Grand Mumbai Tours and want to share my good fortune. Naav, the tour guide, gave an extremely interesting look at Mumbai through his eyes. Naav explained the history and cultural significance of the various sites we visited. He also took me to sights I didn’t know existed and made our day out such fun. Taking a tour from a knowledgeable guide is such a worthwhile experience. But something that comes through from the start is Naav’s enthusiasm for his home city. Take a look at his website for details on how you can book your own tour. But in the meantime, please enjoy the video I shot of my day out with Naav.
